The DMV's 3 Step GDL program is for those student 16 years of age who wish to a head start on obtaining a license. After completing 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training and satisfy the other DMV requirements you will receive a Driver Examination Permit. Which will allow you drive under the following conditions:
- Only when accompanied by a parent/guardian or another licensed driver with at least three years of driving experience.
- Driving only in the state of New Jersey.
- While having your permit in your possession.
- Always wearing your seat belt.
- No driving between 11:01 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
Preparation for Written Exam and Road Test
The written driver's licence exam consists of 50 multiple choice questions, of which 80% must be answered correctly in order to pass. The questions for the written exam can be quite difficult and every bit of help can make a difference between passing and not passing. When you sign up we will be happy to provide you with study materials, practice exams and access to the most knowledgeable driving instructors in the tri-state area.
In addition to the written exam we also provide preparation for the road test. Our instructors will go over many of the same maneuvers used in the actual road test, as well as what to expect while taking the road test. We also arrange the appointment at the DMV and then drive you to and from the testing area.
Training for motorcycles and Mopeds is also available Much like the preparation for the written exam and road test for the automobile driver's license, we provide you with practice exams and hands on road experience. However although they may look similar the requirements for obtaining a motorcycle license and obtaining a moped license are different:
Requirements for obtaining a motorcycle license:
- You must be 17 years of age to operate a motorcycle.
- You can be issued a separate license (Class E), or an endorsement (M) if you already hold a basic New Jersey automobile license.
- Graduated Driver License requirements apply to 17-year-old applicants who do not hold a basic driver license.
Requirements for obtaining a moped license:
- You must be at least 15-years-old to obtain a moped license (Class F).
- Motorized tricycles are not legal in New Jersey and cannot be operated on public roadways.
- A moped license is not required if you already have a basic driver license, motorcycle license, or commercial driver license.
Learning how to drive a stick shift has never been easier. Let our professional and experienced instructors show you the ins and outs of handling those tricky standard transmission cars. Sign up and our instructors will show you how to drive a stick in no time.
